Preface:
Today we're in a world where a prompt can spit out any kind of website. Any style, any motion, finished in a minute. I find peace in a page that’s here for only one reason: to be read. So this is just words, our most basic and primitive form of communication. When anyone can make anything, making stops being the hard part. The hard part is knowing which of it is any good. After that, the value moves to storytelling, distribution, reach and network: who sees the work, who carries it, and who’s in the room when it lands.
Chapter One:
I’m Harji Singh. I build brands and businesses where culture and technology meet. Now that making is the easy part, my work starts with judgment: knowing which idea is worth building, and having the nerve to kill the other ninety-nine. Then comes the story, the reach, and getting it into the right rooms. Some of that happens through Azai Studios, the studio I founded, with offices in New York and Dubai. Some of it is companies I’ve started or co-own. More and more of it, I build with some of the best people. I like work with some risk in it, and people with something real to say and the will to build it. The best partners I’ve had moved more like artists than corporations.
Chapter Two:
The other half is music. I produce and DJ as HARJI. I’ve released on Sol Selectas, Indo Warehouse and Human By Default, held a residency at Pacha NYC, and played rooms like Brooklyn Mirage and Melkweg during ADE. In 2020 I started KTPM Records in Brooklyn. A dance floor is the most honest distribution test there is. Either the room moves or it doesn’t. I treat sound the way I treat design, as identity rather than decoration. And I only make things I’d want to experience myself. On a screen, on a shelf, or on a dance floor.
